How to troubleshoot Wireless Network connection issues
| Follow the procedure below to troubleshoot wireless connection issues, including dropped connections, failed connections or low signal strength. | |||

| NOTE: Because each of these steps represents a possible solution to this issue, try connecting to the wireless network and view Web sites using your internet browser after completing each step. Check the physical Wireless switchVerify the physical wireless switch is set to ON. Refer to the user's manual for instructions.Check the wireless utilityLook in the taskbar for the wireless icon, and make sure it is switched on. Depending on your VAIO model, a different wireless utility may be installed. On most VAIO models, Wireless networking is either managed by Wireless Device Switch or by VAIO Smart Network.For a typical configuration, the option "Enable 2.4 GHz Wireless LAN" should be selected. If Bluetooth devices are not used, we recommend to leave it disabled. Driver and utility reinstallation / updatesReinstall the Wireless Lan Utility and Driver using the VAIO Recovery software.NOTES: If model-specific information is required to use the VAIO Recovery software, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product. If available, download and install wireless Lan-related updates from our downloads section. Test the connection with another computerIf possible, test another computer on the wireless network.NOTE: If another computer is successful, this will ensure the problem is not with the ISP, modem or router. Turn off the power management setting for the WLAN adapter.Access Device ManagerIn Network Adapters, locate the Wireless Network Adapter. Right-click and select Properties select the Power Management tab Unselect the option 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' and click OK Repair the wireless connection.Click on Start - move the mouse pointer over Network, right-click and select PropertiesAt the left side of the Network and Sharing Center, click on the task Diagnose and Repair In the Network and Sharing Center, click on View status for the wireless network connection. |
